An Elkader man is being charged with causing a two-vehicle accident in Linn County, that put both drivers in the hospital.

It happened just before 10am Wednesday (June 29) at the intersection of Highway 13 and Cottage Grove Parkway, just southeast of Marion.

A car driven by 81 year old Kenneth Lemka of Elkader was in the process of making a left turn from the highway onto the parkway, when he drove into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by 58 year old Kevin Pannell of Marion. Lemka and Pannell were taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

The Linn County Sheriff is filing unspecified charges against Lemka; but the accident remains under investigation.
