45-year-old Leonard Simonini was arrested after police responded to a report of a home break-in Monday night.

Officers spotted Simonini crouched inside the house--but they thought he was the burglar, so they ordered him out. He refused...then shot fireworks at the police.

Simonini followed them outside and KEPT shooting the fireworks...so they released a police dog, which chased him back inside. And during the chaos, one of the fireworks caught Simonini's house on fire.

The home was badly damaged, and his cat didn't survive. Simonini is facing charges for arson, cruelty to animals, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest. [Denver Post]

He had been hooking up with another woman, and Amber was alone with that woman's husband...but they WEREN'T getting it on.

She finally confronted her husband, slapped him, and then ran outside.  Her husband and the other couple ran after her, and she got in her minivan and tried to run all three of them over.

Schomaker's blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit, and she told police that she had consumed a half-fifth of vodka within two hours. In addition to OWI, Schomaker faces three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon. [MLive.com]

I'm guessing their relationship wasn't that solid to begin with...

There wasn't enough hard evidence to charge anyone and the case went cold until a few years ago, when new information linked 54-year-old Sheila Keen-Warren to the crime.

She was 27 at the time of the murder, and was likely having an affair with Michael Warren--the victim's husband--even though he denied it to the cops back in 1990.

But after new interviews with witnesses and new DNA tests, there was enough evidence to arrest Shelia for first-degree murder. [BuzzFeed / NBC News]
