Bringing back a favorite splash this summer.  No swimming pool could bring the memories that we created while swimming area quarries and ponds when I was a kid.  From swimming with the tadpoles and turtles to beach volleyball in the sand, summers "back then" were the best.

Thinking back to the days of racing "across and back" at Steinbronn's Pond.  Mom dropping the watermelons in the water to keep them cool while we swim and us kids grabbing one to play "greased watermelon football", only to have it bust open in the middle of the game.

We swam all day and most of the night with people we knew and people we had never met before.  Played sand volleyball with family, friends and strangers.  Yet we never had a worry in the world.  It was summer and we were having the time of our lives.

Grab your kids, your friends, your family and find a rock quarry or local pond, pack a picnic lunch and make a day of swimming and water fun, just make sure to get clearance first, if needed.  Trust me, you won't regret it and you may even enjoy it enough to go back again before summer is over.  Heck, you might even decided it's your new yearly tradition, like I did.  We have a BYO BBQ ever year at a local pond.  We invite all those friends & families we always say we will catch up with and don't get the chance to.  Grill, swim and have a great time catching up.  Our kids are making connections without electronic games and we are catching up with lost friendships.

Have a happy and safe summer, discover something new to do and CHEERS to new traditions.
