Airplane Emergency Landing on Waterloo Roadway

On July 26, 2014 at 07:59pm, Deputies were dispatched to W. Gresham Rd and Wagner Rd for a single engine airplane which made an emergency landing on a Waterloo roadway.

Michael George Hickman (age 49) of Longmont, Colorado, along with son James Michael Hickman (age 22); were flying to Oshkosh Wisconsin for the 2014 Air Show when they encountered engine trouble. The engine failed and the pair was forced to make an emergency landing. Michael Hickman was able to land the small plane on Gresham Rd. just east of Wagner Rd. Neither occupant of the plane were injured and the plane received no damage.

The small plane was towed to the Waterloo Municipal Airport by flatbed.

Black Hawk County Deputies were assisted by the Denver Fire & Ambulance.
