The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Watches & Warnings for several counties in Iowa. Another Spring Winter storm is expected to hit Iowa Tuesday (April 17, 2018) night.

Mother Nature is expected to bring yet another quick moving April snow storm to northeast Iowa. The NWS in Des Moines forecast states that a wintry mix will develop overnight Tuesday and it will change over to snow by Wednesday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory will begin Wednesday morning at 4:00 AM, and it continues until 1:00 AM Thursday morning. Some of the areas that fall under under the advisory included: Iowa Falls, Eldora, Ackley, Grundy Center, Reinbeck, Conrad, Dike, Wellsburg, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Boone, Tama, Toledo, Traer, Dysart, and Gladbrook.

A Winter Storm Warning will begin Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM, and it will continue until 1:00 AM Thursday morning. Some of the areas impacted by the warning include: Osage, Cresco, Decorah, Charles City, and New Hampton.

The heaviest amount of snow is expected in north Iowa and extreme northeast Iowa. The current weather model calls for Decorah to see up to seven inches of snow. While in the Waterloo Cedar Falls area, the forecast states three to four inches will fall by the time the system leaves the area.

Gusty winds will cause blowing and drifting snow during much of the day Wednesday.
