Half-a-dozen area teens face charges, plus more arrests are possible, following the investigation of a recent beer party near Fairbank.


On Saturday (March 25), the Buchanan County Sheriff arrested several people in regard to an underage drinking party and trespass incident that originally happened on March 18, at a residence southeast of Fairbank on 112th Street. At the time, numerous people fled from the residence when authorities arrived.

Following an investigation though, charges have been filed against 19-year-old Norman Nisley of Fairbank, 18-year-olds Allen Hershberger of Hazleton, Robert Kauffman of Fairbank, Sara Beachy of Hazleton, Miriam Hershberger of Fairbank, and Sara Kurtz of Fairbank.

They are being charged with Trespass, Interference with Official Acts, and Underage Alcohol Possession.

The Buchanan County Sheriff continues to investigate the incident, and more arrests are a possibility. The Iowa DNR Law Enforcement and Iowa State Patrol assisted.
