An eastern Iowa business has contributed funds to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, to help investigate and clean up clandestine methamphetamine labs in the county.

Alliance Pipeline Inc. from Maquoketa, presented a $5,000 check to authorities last week, as part of a grant to help the sheriff with purchasing the supplies and equipment needed to find and dispose of secret meth labs.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Clandestine Lab team was put together in 2001, and since then, their equipment for processing and properly disposing of the illegal drugs and their ingredients, has become outdated.

To date, the team has gotten rid of over 200 meth labs in Fayette County.

Authorities now need updated equipment to dispose of methamphetamine produced through the one-pot process, to help keep the team, and area citizens, safe.
