For 9 years running, Rydell Chevrolet in Waterloo hosted their annual Car Show and has raised a tremendous amount of dollars for local charities. It was no different this year.

On Sunday, July 9th, Rydell held its annual Car Show. A record 191 cars and trucks entered the show at Rydell's lot in Waterloo. 26 awards were handed out with the 'Veteran's Choice Award' topping off the ceremony. The 'Veteran’s Choice Award' was rightfully presented by a veteran, who is in the process of receiving a service dog from Retrieving Freedom, a non-profit organization that trains service dogs for placement into three main markets, Veterans, children with autism and adults and children with Diabetes.

All proceeds from vehicle registrations and t-shirt sales went directly to Retrieving Freedom. Monetary donations were also made by Tama County Pork Producers, Mudd Advertising, Ally Bank, Sunrise Catering, Farmers State Bank, Cars.com, Bank Iowa, Waterloo Courier, K & W Electric, ICAN Cable Advertising, Woolverton Printing, Coloff Media and PDCM Insurance.

In all, $10,500 was raised for the fundraiser.

Retrieving Freedom would like to recognize the determination and endless efforts of the Rydell employees for putting on yet another amazing car show, as well as all the attendees of the show and those who registered a vehicle to participate in the show. Retrieving Freedom staff and volunteers enjoyed spending the day spreading awareness about service dogs and introducing the service dogs in training on-site to those who were present.
