Buchanan County authorities have now filed charges in connection with a motorcycle chase back in June.

21 year old Derek Macke of Fairbank was arrested last Friday, on charges of eluding, reckless driving, speeding, no proof of insurance, no valid motorcyle license, and two counts of failing to obey traffic control devices.

The incident happened June 21st. A Buchanan County deputy tried to pull over a motorcycle driven by Macke in Hazleton. Macke sped off, out of town, with the chase ending in Fayette county, when Macke crashed the cycle in a ditch at Highway 3, north of Stanley.

Authorities later located Macke, being treated for some serious injuries at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein. He was later transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City for treatment.

Macke also was arrested on a warrant from Fayette County stemming from that same incident.
