A chase involving Waterloo Police ended Tuesday afternoon, when the subject of their pursuit crashed his car into a house, severing a gas line.

The incident began Tuesday afternoon in the downtown area of Waterloo. Police attempted to pull over a car driven by 24 year old Montavis Keller of Waterloo.

Keller refused to stop, leading authorities on a chase, going almost to Evansdale, then back into Waterloo on Lafayette Street.

The car went out of control after swerving around some stop sticks, leaving the road and crashing into the side of a home.

The collision broke a natural gas pipe and caused a small fire in the home; authorities evacuated a portion of the neighborhood as a precaution, until the gas leak was stopped.

The front portion of the car had penetrated the house.   No one in the home was injured.

Keller was not seriously hurt; he was detained by police, and charges are still pending.
