The Fayette County Sheriff continues to investigate an off-road utility vehicle accident that seriously injured a child.

It happened just after 9pm Friday (June 29) on 292nd Street, northeast of Eldorado. 23-year-old Colin Vagts of Eldorado was operating a UTV, when it went out of control and crashed. An 8-year-old passenger, whose name was not released, was seriously injured. The child was initially taken to the West Union hospital, then airlifted to Gunderson Lutheran in LaCrosse. From there, the child was airlifted again, to Mayo in Rochester. Charges are pending.

A Hawkeye man is being charged in a motorcycle accident. 26-year-old Deven Schultz was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle late last Tuesday night (June 26), south of Hawkeye on "R" Avenue. The bike went out of control and crashed. Schultz was taken to the West Union hospital by the Sumner area ambulance. Schultz was charged with failure to have a valid motorcycle license.

And Sunday, June 24th, the Fayette County Sheriff was notified of a one-vehicle accident at Highway 3 and "L" Avenue, east of Oelwein. Donald Reierson Jr. of Elgin had failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of his motorcycle. The bike then entered a ditch. Reierson was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, then transferred to Iowa City by aircare. Reierson was charged with failure to maintain control, driving while suspended, no insurance, and registration violations. He also did not have a valid driver's license.
