Couple Surprised at Backlash Over “Divorce Selfie” 

A couple from Canada who posted a “divorce selfie“ on Facebook last week say they’re surprised by the backlash they’ve received from the photo.

“It was never meant to celebrate divorce,“ says Shannon Neuman, who shared the pic of her and ex-husband Chris Neuman smiling after finalizing their divorce at a local courthouse.

“If two people can smile at the end...then that’s a positive.“

She added that she and Chris first separated four years ago and that she got the idea for the selfie after a courthouse employee remarked that they were quite happy for a pair of exes.

This is becoming a new trend. Shannon insisted she didn't intend for the pic to go viral, but when asked why she tagged the post with #divorceselfie, she said she and her ex-husband "sort of make fun of each other with hashtags." What do you think of it?
