A comeback for the Waterloo Black Hawks forces overtime, but ran out of gas in Omaha. Tonight, come celebrate Tommy Hawk's when Waterloo returns to Young Arena.

Jack Drury helped the Waterloo Black Hawks claim an unlikely standings point Friday versus the Omaha Lancers at Ralston Arena, but the home team still prevailed, 3-2 in overtime.

With 27.8 seconds remaining in regulation, the Hawks were shorthanded, trailing, and had lifted Matej Tomek for an extra skater. Jackson Cates carried the puck to the slot, dropping to a knee in traffic. He found a way to slip a pass to Drury on left wing, and the forward lifted a backhander into the net for his second goal of the night.

After the end of regulation, the Lancers pulled out the win 34 seconds into overtime during the same power play. Filip Suchy completed a hat trick, scoring on a low shot from the right circle. It was Omaha’s only power play goal during six attempts.
