Bucks To Play Twinbill At Willmar After Postponement
Unplayable field conditions at Willmar's Baker Field at Bill Taunton Stadium (see photo below) prevented the teams from starting their pivotal two-game series, which will have a major impact on the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division. Waterloo (34-34) currently trails the Stingers (38-30) by four games in the overall standings. To secure a post-season berth, the Bucks will need to win their remaining four games and Willmar has to lose its last four.
Thursday's postponed game will be made up as part of a 5:05 p.m. doubleheader on Friday (Aug. 12), but the twinbill will be played at another venue in a nearby town due to the field conditions in Willmar. The Bucks and Stingers will play two seven-inning games at Green Lake Baseball Diamond in Spicer, Minn., a community of about 1,000 residents approximately 15 miles northeast of Willmar.
Right-handed pitcher Kyle Leahy (1-1, 4.50) is slated to start Game One for the Bucks against Willmar left-hander Bradley Bailey (2-1, 3.14). In the nightcap, Waterloo plans to send right-hander Jared Crescentini (5-3, 3.84) to the mound against Jayce Vancena (5-2, 4.32).
THIS WEEKEND: The Bucks host their final regular-season series of the year at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo. They play St. Cloud at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday and 3:35 p.m. on Sunday.
