Monday, September 5 was the opening night of 2016 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals, and five northeast Iowa drivers qualified for Saturday's main events.

Benji Irvine (Oelwein, IA) finished fourth in the first of two IMCA Hobby Stock Qualifying events. Leah Wroten (Independence, IA) drove from a 27th place starting spot to finish sixth. Both have now qualified for the Super Nationals main event on Saturday.

Tyler Soppe (Sherrill, IA) grabbed a second place finish in the only IMCA SportMod qualifying event on Monday. Dan Drury (Eldora, IA) finished third. Danny Dvorak (Vinton, IA) came home in sixth. A three have now qualified for the Saturday main event.
