Second High School Football Rankings Features 11 Area Teams

Nearly a dozen teams from the Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa are featured in the second high school football rankings of the season released by the Associated Press on Tuesday (Sept. 8, 2015).

Three of the area squads are newcomers to the survey. Waukon (No. 5) and Center Point-Urbana (No. 10) both jumped into the Class-2A poll following a pair of non-district wins, Denver (No. 6) is make its debuted in the Class-1A top ten.

Defending Class-2A champion North Fayette Valley took a big stumble in this week's poll following Friday night's loss to Independence. The Hawks, who were ranked No. 1 last week, are no longer rated among the top 10.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck, which topped the Class-A poll last week, fell three spots after Friday night's setback to Dike-New Hartford. The Wolverines moved up three spots to No. 2 in Class-2A behind four-time defending state champion Iowa City Regina.

There was little, if any, movement for the other area teams ranked in this week's survey. Cedar Falls, West Delaware, Waverly-Shell Rock, Central Community and Janesville are all 2-0 heading into their district openers Friday night. Don Bosco is 1-0 and is idle this week.
