The Wartburg Knights completed their 2016 campaign with a 42-14 triumph over Buena Vista at Walston-Hoover Stadium in Waverly Saturday afternoon (Nov. 12, 2016).

With the victory, Wartburg (6-4 overall, 5-3 IIAC) earned its 23rd consecutive winning season. It is the fifth-longest active streak in the nation, all divisions.

The Knights rolled up exactly 500 yards of offense, while limiting the Beavers to 284. Quarterback Matt Sacia led the Wartburg attack, throwing for 296 yards and four touchdowns on 25-of-32 passing with a pair of interceptions.

Griffin Brennecke led the receivers with 74 yards and two scores while Riley Brockway had a team-best six catches. Connor Schrader led the rushing game, tallying 98 yards on 14 carries.

Fittingly on Senior Day, senior Jake Haberman put the Knights on the board with his touchdown from one-yard out. The score gave Wartburg a 7-0 lead just three minutes into the game.

Brennecke scored the next two TDs for the Knights on 14- and 39-yard receptions. Then, sophomore defensive back Peyton Imhoff's pick six helped the Knights increase their margin to 28-0 at the end of the first half.

Imhoff finished with a career-best two interceptions and had 54 return yards. Senior Brendan Schott led the defense with eight total tackles, which included a team-best six solo.

The Knights honored Haberman and the team's 17 other seniors during a pre-game ceremony. Like Wartburg, the game also ended the season for Buena Vista (3-7, 3-5).
