A Hawkeye motorist is being charged with causing a one-car rollover, that totaled his vehicle and sent a passenger to the hospital.

Shortly after 8pm Wednesday, the Fayette County Sheriff got a 911 call of a rollover near the intersection of "R" Avenue and Highway 93, south of Hawkeye.

20 year old Joshua Doty was driving north when he swerved, then lost control of the car. It went into a nearby ditch, and rolled.

Doty's passenger, James Lausier, also of Hawkeye, had to be extricated from the vehicle; he was taken to the West Union hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The 1993 Ford Escort was totaled. Doty is charged with failure to maintain control.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Hawkeye Fire, Hawkeye First Responders and Sumner Ambulance.
