Fire Destroys Popular NE Iowa Restaurant
Investigators will be sifting through the remains of a Strawberry Point business, trying to determine the origin of a weekend fire.
Fire crews were called out at about 12:15am Sunday to the Back Home Country Cookin' restaurant, located right next door to the Strawberry Point fire station.
Firefighters had to battle the extreme cold, as well as the flames; the below-zero temps froze up hoses and hydrants.
No one was injured, but the business is totaled.
Brenda Landis, the owner of Back Home Country Cookin', indicated on a Facebook post that she intends to rebuild.
The Strawberry Point Fire Department was assisted by fire crews from Edgewood and Arlington.
The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
