Gilbertville Woman Hurt In Three-Vehicle Accident
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle accident that injured a Gilbertville woman late Wednesday afternoon (June 8, 2016).
According to authorities, Ashley Evan, 30, was air-lifted to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following the crash on Interstate 380 near Urbana in Benton County.
The Iowa State Patrol said Evan was driving in traffic that was slowed by a previous accident, when the crash occurred. Her car was rear-ended by a van, driven by Michael Baggee, 18, of Independence. The impact of the collision then pushed Evan's car into the rear of a semi, driven by Rick Willits, 57, of Moline, Ill.
Evan was the only person injured in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The accident temporarily closed the interstate in both directions.
