Gran Fondo Bike Ride & Street Festival Returns To Cedar Falls

The Gran Fondo Cedar Valley bike ride and FondoFest street festival are returning to downtown Cedar Falls! Join us for bike riding, live music, local brews, kid’s activities and more on Saturday August 20th.

The deadline to register for this year’s ride is Thursday, August 17th. Register at  www.granfondocedarvalley.com. Whether you’re riding for beer, for food or for fun, we’ve got you covered. Your choice of a 100-mile or 60-mile route will take you throughout the Cedar Valley with regular rest stops set up in towns along the way. Registered riders are eligible to enter to win a drawing for gift certificates to Scheels and downtown Cedar Falls. Riders completing the 100-mile route will receive a gold medal as well!

Following the ride, Community Main Street will once again be shutting down Main Street to host a full-scale FondoFest street festival, presented by Collins Community Credit Union and SingleSpeed Brewing! The fun starts earlier this year with a Fittest of the FondoFest CrossFit Competition hosted by The Gym CrossFit Kilo. Four person teams will be competing from 9 AM -1 PM on Main Street. The beer garden and live music starts earlier too! Stop by the intersection of 2nd and Main to enjoy SingleSpeed Brewing brews on the tapper trailer starting at noon. Live music kicks off at 2:30 PM with Six Feet, followed by Checker and the Bluetones at 6 PM.

There will be lots of great activities for the kiddos again this year as well! Bring them downtown from 4-7 PM to enjoy balloon animals, face painting and Strider bike obstacles, free of charge! Inflatables will also be available to enjoy for a small fee. PLUS, register to win one of two Strider Bikes courtesy of Scheels and Strider Bikes!

You can also ride your bike to the festivities and park it for free with Bike Tech’s free bicycle valet parking, available all day! Local eats from downtown restaurants will also be available for purchase.
