Some Northeast Iowa residents' experienced a very loud downpour Thursday afternoon, when a small band of thunderstorms pelted the area with large hail.


The quick downpours swept through Bremer, Black Hawk, Fayette, Buchanan, and Clayton Counties, depositing some rain, and a fair amount of hail.

Hailstones the size of golf balls, and larger, dropped onto Oelwein, Denver, and Strawberry Point, and prompted thunderstorm warnings from the National Weather Service.

There were numerous reports of pea-, penny-, and dime-size hail around the area.

The short-lived storms moved east out of Iowa, into southwest Wisconsin Thursday evening.

There were no reports of injuries or major damage.
