“Head Banger” Goes to Jail on Drug Charges

A head-banging incident at a Northeast Iowa park apparently had more to do with illegal drugs, than it did with loud music.

Last Thursday (Aug. 25), Buchanan County deputies were called to a park in the 100 block of 3rd Street North in Hazleton, on the report of a man yelling, and banging his head on park tables.

While talking with the man, identified as 47 year old David Treptow of Independence, authorities spotted drug paraphernalia in a back pack he was wearing.

Officers later found a large amount of marijuana in the back pack.

Treptow was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver – Marijuana, a drug tax stamp violation, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Iowa State Patrol assisted the Buchanan County Sheriff in the investigation.
