Where You Can Go Indoor Rock Climbing in Iowa [PHOTOS]

Have you ever wanted to give rock climbing a try? There are a few places in Iowa where you can do just that! Here are some of the facilities that offer indoor rock climbing:

Climb Iowa

• 3605 Miehe Drive, Grimes
  • Walls up to 37.5 feet
  • 10,000 square-feet of climbing
• 150 East 4th Street, Des Moines
  • Bouldering-only facility
  • 3,000 square-feet of climbing
• Open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

SOKO Outfitters

• 41 16th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids
• 23-foot climbing wall with four routes (easy, medium, hard, and a challenge route)
• Open Friday & Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• $5 for 2 climbs or $10 for two people up to 1 hour

The W at Wartburg College

• 100 Wartburg Blvd, Waverly
• 30-foot tall climbing wall - can hold up to six climbers at once
• Open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• Guest passes available at the welcome desk - $5 for ages 0 to 18 and $10 for ages 19+

UNI Wellness and Recreation Center

• 2301 Hudson Rd, Cedar Falls
• 38.5-foot climbing wall - 11 top rope stations, 2 lead climbing ropes, and an overhanging bouldering area
• Open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on home football game days), and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Guest passes available through the Fusion Member Portal
