For those of us who have gone to college, we like to take pride in our alma mater.

It doesn't matter if it's a big school or a small school. You spent some formative years discovering yourself at that institution.

I loved the college I went to in Upstate New York. While I was there, I made so many connections, friends, and memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

A recent study has determined the top public universities in the Midwest. You shouldn't be that surprised to see a well-known Northeastern Iowa college make it to the top of the list...again.

On this list put together by US News and World Report, officials were able to rank the top Public Universities in the Midwest based off of several factors such as academic reputation, the overall cost of attending, as well as the "return on investment."

Coming in at number two in this prestigious list is the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

That's right...GO PANTHERS!

According to UNI officials, the college has maintained this spot on the list off and on for the past two decades. The spot that they secured this year was due to jumps in several categories, such as;

  • Number three for Best Colleges for Veterans among Regional Universities in the Midwest
  • Number eleven for Regional Universities Midwest
  • Fifty-second spot for Best Value Schools

The Director of university relations Pete Moris said about the college's spot on the list,

“While these rankings are good news, what is hard to quantify is just how devoted our faculty and staff are to student success. Our entire campus community is committed to helping all our students achieve their personal and professional goals and we encourage prospective students to visit campus and see what sets UNI apart from other institutions.”

See Inside Roseanne Barr's Eldon Mansion

Roseanne Barr was set to make a home in Iowa. She and her then-husband Tom Arnold were in the midst of building a mansion in Eldon. It was put on hold when the couple eventually split up. This left a beautiful, unfinished, and kind of spooky mansion behind.

Roseanne Barr Abandoned Iowa Mansion in Eldon, IA

I fell into a rabbit hole when I found out that Roseanne Barr almost had a mansion in Iowa. After seeing the current state of the property on Facebook, I was amazed that such an extravagant project could be so quickly overtaken by nature. Only two hours away from Waterloo, this abandoned field could have hosted some of the coolest and elite Hollywood parties in the Midwest. The current photos were taken by Gable Fry on a recent trip he took.
