Janesville Man Killed in Black Hawk County Accident

A Janesville man is dead following a weekend accident in northern Black Hawk County.

The crash happened in the 8700 block of Waverly Road (old U.S. Highway 218) around 6 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 14, 2016).

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Gene Turner, 56, was killed when the northbound vehicle he was driving struck a tractor that was backing into a residential driveway. Turner was taken to Sartori Hospital in nearby Cedar Falls, where he later died.

The tractor driver -- identified as John Thode, 73, of Cedar Falls -- was not injured.
