Janesville Man Wins Big

A Janesville man was just one number away from winning a big Hot Lotto jackpot Saturday and ended up winning a big $90,000 prize.

William Murray’s winning ticket initially matched the first five numbers, but missed the Hot Ball in Saturday’s drawing to win a $30,000 prize, but since he added the Sizzler® option to his purchase, his prize tripled to $90,000.

Murray bought his winning ticket at Casey’s, 2425 Center St. in Cedar Falls, and claimed his prize Monday at the lottery’s regional office in Cedar Rapids.

The winning numbers in that night’s $4.24 million jackpot drawing were: 2-4-25-34-44 and Hot Ball 12. No one won the jackpot in Saturday’s drawing so the top prize has grown to $4.34 million for Wednesday’s drawing. The game has an all-cash jackpot with withholding taxes paid, meaning that if the advertised jackpot is $4.34 million, the winner will receive a one-time, lump-sum payment for that full amount.
