A La Porte City couple is recovering from injuries they suffered in a late afternoon traffic accident on Thursday (Feb. 25, 2016).

The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of E. Donald St. and N. Elk Run Road, northeast of Waterloo.

According to Black Hawk County sheriff's officials, John and Joleen Robb were taken to Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Sheriff's officials said the crash happened when a southbound car on N. Elk Run Road failed to halt at a stop sign and struck the Robbs' vehicle, which was eastbound on E. Donald St. The impact of the collision sent the Robbs' vehicle into a ditch, where it struck and went through a private fence.

Deputies identified the driver of the southbound car as Darren Craig of Louisville, Ky, who they cited for failing to obey a stop sign. Authorities said Craig was not injured in the accident.
