A Waterloo man faces a list of charges, after leading police on a high-speed chase.
The incident began at about 2am Sunday (Oct. 2), when a Waterloo Police officer clocked a car going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone on University Avenue.

The driver, later identified as 51 year old Jeffrey Bailey, refused to pull over for the police officer; he turned into a residential area, speeding at more than 50 mph in a 25 mph zone.

The chase continued to Highway 218, exiting at Broadway Street, with speeds hitting 115 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Bailey finally lost control on a curve, and was stopped.

Bailey told police he was being chased by a gang, and claimed that he did not pull over, because someone was shooting at him.

He is being charged with eluding, OWI-1st Offense, no license, no insurance, and speeding. His bond was set at $25,000.
