An eastern Iowa man, in jail on earlier charges, has now been charged with allegedly marrying more than one woman.

Last Monday, August 22nd, 39 year old Joshua Jarrett of Masonville, was charged with Bigamy, which is a serious misdemeanor.

The investigation began, when Jarrett, who was already incarcerated in the Buchanan County jail, requested, and was granted, a short wedding ceremony. The marriage was performed June 1st of 2016.

It was later discovered that Jarrett did not tell anyone that he was already married to another woman, back in 1993, in Wayne County, Virginia.

Jarrett has been held in the Buchanan County jail in Independence since March of 2015, on a $250,000 bond, awaiting trial on other charges.
