I started at Q92.3 in October but didn't officially move to the Cedar Valley until late December, so I hadn't really had the chance to experience much. I finally attended a Waterloo Black Hawks game last night, and it was a total blast!

The fans at Young Arena were loud from start to finish, even though the crowd was a bit smaller than usual (because, you know, 65 in February). My seat was pretty close to the action, and I got to see a great deal on my side of the ice.

Kevin Charyszyn scored a hat trick (three goals in one game), and the Hawks also added a shorthanded goal (scoring with one fewer skater on the ice) AND an empty-net goal (the opposing team took their goalie off the ice to add an extra offensive player late in the game) on the way to a 5-2 win over Sioux Falls.

Party Town definitely lived up to its name! Check out some of my photos below:

The Black Hawks are home again tomorrow (Sunday) against the Lincoln Stars. Puck drops at 3:05 p.m. Fans in attendance will have the chance to meet characters from Toy Story, presented by U.S. Bank, and have a post-game skate with the players. Call the Domino’s Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680 or visit waterlooblackhawks.com to purchase tickets.
