Authorities have now released the name of an eastern Iowa man killed in a motorcycle accident.

It happened just before 8:30am Friday (Feb. 24), on U.S. Highway 30, on the west edge of Mt. Vernon.

A motorcycle, driven by 45-year-old Trent Eadie of Cedar Rapids, was westbound, when it apparently went into the other lane and collided head-on with a straight truck driven by 68-year-old Roger Gray of Swisher.

Eadie was pronounced dead at the scene; Gray was not injured.

Traffic had to be diverted on Highway 30 for about 4 hours, until the on-scene investigation was complete, and the area was cleared of debris.

The accident is under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff, with assistance from Mt. Vernon Police and the Iowa D.O.T..
