We now know the name of the man wounded by gunfire in Waterloo last (Thursday) night.

60 year old Earl Hunter was in the process of stepping outside his home in the 100 block of Edwards Street to let out his dog, when a bullet ricocheted, striking him in the leg.

Hunter was taken to a local hospital for treatment of the non-lethal injury.

According to authorities, Hunter was apparently not the intentended target. Numerous shots were reported in that area of Waterloo last night. Waterloo Police recovered several 9mm shell casings about a block away, in the 200 block of Edwards Street.

Gunfire was also reportedly heard on Dawson Street.

Officials have not yet determined if all of the gunshots were related.
