The City of Oelwein continues to try to beautify the city, by having residents clear their properties of debris.

On Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 27), Oelwein City Crews and the Oelwein Police Department removed numerous items from a property at 723 2nd Avenue SW.

On Tuesday, the magistrate court had a hearing in reference to charging the property owner with 2 citations. Steven Gabriel is charged with code violations, for structural issues and having numerous nuisance items on his property.

Grabriel was found guilty of both counts, and allowed a limited time for the situtation to be remedied, before the city would go in and abate the problem.

Costs of the cleanup will go to Gabriel.
