The Panther wrestling team opens its home dual season with No. 3 Iowa Central Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2014.

Fans are encouraged to bring a donation for the Toys for Tots program. Toys and monetary donations will be accepted at the east doors.

All fans, including season ticket holders, are asked to enter through the east doors. Doors will open at noon, but season ticket holders will be allowed in at 11:45 a.m.

WRESTLING IOWA CENTRAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE

UNI has never competed against ICCC in a dual. ICCC is ranked second in the nation by the NJCAA Wrestling Coaches Association and by Intermat.

The Tritons have six wrestlers ranked in the nation’s top 10.

 

UNI LINEUP (1-1 overall / 0-0 MAC) (Intermat rankings)

125 – No. 6 Dylan Peters – sophomore (6-0):
The returning All-American is one of three Panthers with an undefeated start (6-0). He won the UCM Open and notched two falls in his first dual meets. Peters had 18 falls last year putting him fourth on the all-time list of most falls in a single season at UNI. He already has four falls and a tech fall this season.

133 – Levi Wolfensperger – senior (6-1):
He is the lone senior expected to start this weekend. Two years ago, he reached the Round of 12 at the NCAA tournament, just missing an All-American spot. He is a two-time NCAA qualifier. He won the UCM Open. Wolfensperger now has 31 career falls, which gives him sole possession of sixth on the all-time list for UNI.

141 – Jake Hodges – redshirt freshman (4-4):
Hodges won his first dual as a Panther last weekend against Robert Humphrey of Indiana Tech.

149 – Zach Witte – sophomore (6-2):
Witte moved down a weight class this season notched his second major decision dual win last weekend against Indiana Tech’s Mitch Roadruck.

157 – Jarrett Jensen – junior (8-2):
Jensen returns for the Panthers at 157 pounds. Jensen matched his total falls from last year by pinning Chase Hack of Indiana Tech last weekend. Jensen already has three falls this season.

165 – No. 12 Cooper Moore – sophomore (7-1):
Moore is ranked 12th in the nation and returns at 165 pounds after winning the MAC Championships last year for an automatic bid to the NCAA tourney. He is one of four Panther still undefeated in dual competition.

174 – Curt Maas – sophomore (7-0):
Maas moved up a weight class this season. He is one of three Panthers still undefeated having won the UCM Open and both of his duals last weekend. He has notched two major decision wins and one pin this year.

184 – Kyle Lux – junior (5-3):
Lux got his first dual win last weekend against Brandon Sunday of Indiana Tech. He wrestled most of last season at 184 pounds, but opened up competition at 174 pounds this year for the UCM Open.

197 – Jared Bartel’s – sophomore (5-1):
Bartel’s only duals for UNI have been against Purdue’s Braden Atwood. Bartel lost 7-5 to then No. 12 Atwood last year. This year, he took the senior, who is currently ranked eighth in the nation, to a tiebreaker. Bartel lost 4-1, accounting for his only loss on the year.

285 – Blaize Cabell – junior (7-1):
Cabell is ranked second in the MAC, but beat out the conference’s top-ranked wrestler for a third-place finish at the UCM Open. He qualified for nationals after placing third at the MAC last season. He remains undefeated in duals this year.
