Here are the current stage levels for the Shell Rock Rock River, Cedar River, and Black Hawk Creek. This is according to the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service from the National Weather Service in Des Moines as of 9:45 AM.

There are several Flood Warnings/Watches and Flash Flood Warnings/Watches that have already been issued by the NWS. The height of the crest remains subject to change and will depend on how much rain falls in the next six hours.

CEDAR RIVER:

In Charles City, the flood stage is 12 feet. At 9:30 AM the river was at 12.18 feet and rising. The current projected crest is 24.2 sometime Friday (Sept. 23, 2016). The record mark is 25.3 feet. The current model calls for the river to fall below flood stage sometime Monday.

In Janesville, the flood stage is 13 feet. At 8:45 AM, the river was at 7.6 feet, but it was on the rise. The river is projected to leave it banks on Friday with a crest of 17.8 feet on Saturday (Sept. 24, 2016). The record mark is 19.5 feet. The Cedar is expected to fall below flood stage on Monday.

In Cedar Falls, the current stage was at 87.21 at 8:45 AM with a flood stage of 88 feet. The river has began to rise, and a crest of 96.8 is forecast on Sunday, (Sept. 25, 2016). The current model has the river falling below flood stage on Tuesday (Sept. 27, 2016).

In Waterloo, the river stage is 9.79 feet at 9:00 AM and slowly rising. The flood stage is 13 feet. The crest is expected to hit on Saturday at 20.9 feet, and it should fall below flood stage late Tuesday.

In VInton, the Cedar sits at 12.02 feet at 9:15 AM. Flood stage is 15 feet, and the record mark is 24.7 feet. The crest is projected to hit 22.1 feet on Sunday. The river will fall below flood stage on Wednesday (Sept. 28, 2016).

SHELL ROCK RIVER:

In Shell Rock at 9:45 AM, the river stage was 12.34 feet and was quickly rising. The flood stage is 13.5 feet, and the record mark is 20.4 feet. A crest of 18.5 feet is expected to hit on Friday. The river is expected to fall below flood stage by Monday.

WEST FOR OF THE CEDAR RIVER:

In Finchford at 8:45 AM, the river was at 11.46 feet. The flood stage is 17 feet, and so far, the river is expected to only hit 15.2 feet.

BLACK HAWK CREEK:

Only minor flooding is projected for Black Hawks Creek. At 8:45 AM, the stage was at 6.94 feet. Flood stage is 14 feet, and the current crest forecast says 13.2 feet on Saturday.

WAPSIPINICON RIVER:

Both Tripoli and Independence are seeing the river on the rise, but at this time, the National Weather Services Advanced Hydrological Prediction Service does not call for any flooding. No forecast is available for Tripoli. In Independence, the river is expected to crest right at flood stage, which is 12 feet, on Monday.
