A road construction project on a state highway in Bremer County will impact traffic flow for the next three-months, starting Monday (May 9, 2016).

Resurfacing work will require daytime lane closures on Iowa Highway 93 from U.S. Highway 63 to the city of Sumner through late July, weather permitting. The road work will require pavement patching with a hot-mix asphalt and guardrail updates, Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) officials said.

According to the IDOT authorities at the agency's construction office in New Hampton, flaggers and pilot cars will be used to control traffic when the daytime lane closures are in place. Only minor repair work will be occurring within the cities of Tripoli and Sumner.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
