Several area school districts are either cancelling or delaying the start of classes today, due to winter weather. Below is the list for Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.

Dangerous road conditions are reported in parts of northeast Iowa. Travel is not recommended in Chickasaw, Floyd and Howard counties.

A blizzard warning is in effect for Chickasaw and Floyd counties until 6 a.m. Saturday and for Butler County until midnight Friday.

A winter weather advisory is posted for Black Hawk, Bremer, Grundy, Hardin, Marshall and Tama counties until midnight Friday. A winter weather advisory is also posted for Allamakee, Benton, Buchanan, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque and Fayette counties until 6 a.m. Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, 1-3 inches of snow is expected in the counties where the winter weather advisory is in effect. Additional snow accumulations of 2-8 inches are forecast where the blizzard warning is posted. Wind gusts as high as 45 miles per hour are also expected to create white-out conditions.
