The Sioux Falls Stampede scored twice in the first five minutes Saturday, November 15, 2014, en route to a 5-1 decision at Young Arena against the Waterloo Black Hawks.

Next up for the Waterloo Black Hawks in United State Hockey League (USHL) action is a road trip to meet the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The next Hawks home game is on Thanksgiving versus the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

Sioux Falls defensemen were the offensive catalysts in the first period. Nikolas Koberstein started the scoring 1:22 into the game with a shot through traffic from the right point. Chris Pohlkamp struck from nearly the same spot just over three minutes later. Sioux Falls completed the first period scoring at 16:20 when Logan O’Connor pushed in the rebound of a Clint Lewis shot from the left point.

The Stampede cashed in on a power play 3:12 into the second period; Joey Marooney scored from pointblank range, set up by Ryan Schwalbe’s pass out of the right corner. Then in a four-on-four situation, Bryan Sienerth cut across the slot and slipped a chance into the net to make it 5-0.

Waterloo got one back before the period ended, when Rem Pitlick scored during a brief five-on-three situation. It was the final goal of the night ahead of a scoreless third.
