Third-ranked Waverly-Shell Rock was upset by Sioux City Bishop Heelan Catholic in the Class-4A quarterfinals of the 2015 Iowa High School Girls State Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The Go-Hawks (42-10) fell to the eighth-ranked Crusaders, 3-1. Waverly-Shell Rock won the opening set 25-18, before Heelan (31-13) rallied to take the final three games 25-20, 25-21 and 25-8.

The state tournament appearance was the ninth in school history for Waverly-Shell Rock, which won Class-3A state championships in 2009 and 2011. The Go-Hawks have made it to state six of the past seven years.
