Authorities have now located the suspect and vehicle wanted in connection with an attempted child abduction in northeast Iowa.

The incident happened at about 11 a.m. Monday (April 17, 2017) in Tripoli. Two 10-year-old boys told police that they were near the Tripoli library, when an older man approached them, telling them he would pay the boys to help him collect cans, showing the boys some fake money.

The suspect allegedly grabbed one of the children, but let him go after they hit him with a hockey stick.

Authorities released a picture of the suspect vehicle, an older pickup; but today (Tuesday) Tripoli police confirmed the vehicle and the suspect have both been located.

Police determined that the children perceived the man's actions as threatening, and they acted accordingly.

The investigation continues. In a press release, authorities said they DO NOT consider the man to be a danger to the public.

Local law enforcement is thanking all of the citizens who provided tips and assisted in locating the suspect.
