Suspicious Activity Nets Arrest of Local Woman

A local woman has been cited for illegal drugs and other offenses, after authorities were sent to investigate suspicious activity.

Shortly after 5pm Friday (Feb. 9), Oelwein Police were called to the 400 block of 13th Avenue NW. When they arrived, officers arrested 27-year-old Stephanie Arteaga of Oelwein on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owners' Consent, and Prohibited Acts.

Oelwein Police are looking into a theft complaint. Just before 4:30pm Saturday, the police department received a report of a theft from the 100 block of 5th Street NW. The incident is still under investigation.
