Iowa may have the most passionate and enthusiastic wrestling fans in the nation, and the rest of the world has taken notice. Iowa City has been awarded the 2018 Freestyle World Cup. The top eight international men's freestyle wrestling teams will be competing at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Waverly-Shell Rock finished second and New Hampton took third in the 2016 Battle of Waterloo.

After Friday's qualifying rounds, Waverly-Shell Rock and New Hampton Iowa high school wrestling teams advanced to the championship round at the 2016 Battle of Waterloo at Young Arena.

Teams are eligible for free admission to the Oklahoma vs. UNI wrestling dual set for February 5, 2017 in the McLeod Center.
