Five Northeast Iowa teenagers are recovering from a one-vehicle accident in Clayton County.

It happened shortly after 4pm Thursday on Hickory Avenue, near Monona.

A pickup driven by 17 year old Dylan Oelke of McGregor, went out of control, entered a ditch, vaulted over a field drive, and came to rest upside down.

Oelke and his passengers, 15 year old Carl Nagel and 15 year old Vanessa Loera, both of Monona, and 16 year old Schylar Nieland and 17 year old Tessa Eick, both of McGregor, were taken by ambulance to the Prairie du Chien hospital. A condition report was not available.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, only two of the teenage occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Clayton County Sheriff, Monona Police, MarMac Police, and area first responders from Monona, Farmersburg and Marquette and McGregor.
