Let's face it: you usually don't love EVERYTHING you receive for Christmas. But you don't want to embarrass your friend or family member that got it for you, so you grin and bear it. There's also no sense in letting something go to waste, so why not re-gift it for somebody else?

It's actually a pretty common practice these days, so there doesn't need to be any shame in your game. Here are the some of the top things you're most likely to re-gift:

Candles

I always thought candles were thoughtful. I hope my relatives haven't ever done this to me, but candles are the #1 most-regifted items. See if I send you any more sandalwood!

Gift Cards

I actually don't mind the idea of giving a gift card--if you know someone likes a certain product or place, why not let them get what they want on their own? But at least make sure it's not a used one. Rolling up to Panera with $7.82 left on that $20 gift card could raise some eyebrows.

Are you the type that holds on to unwanted presents in order to regift them the following year? If so, you may want to act quickly when returning a gift basket, considering most of them usually contain some kind of fresh food like fruit.

Soaps

Apparently the same can be said for soaps as for candles. Sometimes the smell is offputting, you may be allergic, or you may have a stockpile courtesy of a loved one who just wants you to have nice things ;-)

Wine/Booze

From The Street: Wine and other alcoholic beverages can be popular gifts around the holidays ... the problem is that you could end up accumulating an excessive amount of booze.

How is that a PROBLEM, exactly? ;-)

January 5th is National Returns Day, so maybe that'll help you feel a little less guilty. Get the full list HERE. Happy regifting!
