Three Hurt in Rural Jesup Accident
Three people have been injured in a pickup vs semi accident in Black Hawk County.
It happened Tuesday, on Jesup Road, when a pickup, driven by 70 year old James Schmitz of rural Jesup, was backing out of a field drive at the crest of a hill.
A semi, driven by 25 year old Chad Durnil of Jesup, struck the pickup, trapping Schmitz inside the cab. He was extricated by the Jesup Fire Department.
Schmitz and one of his passengers, 54 year old Darrell Schmitz of Altoona, were taken to Covenant Hospital; another passenger, 61 year old Steven Delagardelle of rural Jesup, was taken to Allen Hospital.
Durnil, the semi driver, was not hurt.
The Black Hawk County Sheriff investigated the accident.
