A string of seven consecutive goals by the Bloomington Thunder gave the home team an 8-2 win against the visiting Waterloo Black Hawks on Friday at U.S. Cellular Arena.

The Thunder scored early, and the Hawks had a quick answer. A right point blast by Zach Mirageas made the score 1-0 at 2:58. Waterloo tied it 25 seconds later as Ace Cowans redirected Jake Ryczek’s shot into the cage.

However, the Hawks did not have an answer as the Thunder registered two more. Ethan Somoza scored on the rebound of a Vladislav Dzhioshvili shot at 9:30. Dzioshvili scored himself, firing the puck under the crossbar at 11:09.

The blitz was on during the second period as Bloomington scored four times in 4:21. Mitchell Chafee had the first two at 5:04 and 7:27. Charlie Raith and Samoza followed up at 8:32 and 9:25 respectively.

Each team scored a special teams goal in the third. Tarek Baker flipped a shorthanded chance into the net at 2:10. An initial shot by Emil Ohrvall pin-balled to the back of the Thunder net during a Hawks power play at 15:42.
