October is upon us, which means Halloween season. A recent survey by Redbox found that 49% of people watch a horror movie in October to celebrate Halloween. Did you know that  there are horror and suspense movies filmed right here in Iowa? Here's a list of the top three.

Children Of The Corn - (1989 & 2009)  

Both versions of the Stephen King classic were filmed in Iowa. Some of the towns included Sioux City, Hornick, Salix and Whiting. The movies featured a cult of children who believe everyone over the age of 18 must be killed. Here's the official movie trailer of the 2009 film.

The Crazies - 2010

The Crazies was a horror movie that was filmed in Winterset and Lenox, Iowa. The movie is about the residents of a small Iowa town, who go insane after a mysterious toxin contaminates their water supply. Here's the official movie trailer.

Twister - 1996

Although the movie Twister was set in Oklahoma, many of the movie scenes were actually filmed in Ames, Boone, Eldora, Whitten and Rippey Iowa. The movie is about two storm chasers on the brink of divorce, join forces to create a tornado measurement device. Here's the official movie trailer.
