If you need to dispose of electronic devices like old computers & televisions and household toxic materials, mark your calendar for September 23.

The Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management Commission and the City of Cedar Falls are sponsoring another electronics recycling and household toxic materials drop-off event for Black Hawk County residents.

The drop-off will be held on Saturday, September 23rd from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Cedar Falls Public Works Complex (located at 2200 Technology Parkway, south of the Target Distribution Center).

A wide variety of chemicals, propane tanks, fluorescent light bulbs, TVs, computers, and other items will be accepted from Black Hawk County homes and garages. This event does NOT accept materials from outside of Black Hawk County or from businesses. Fees apply for certain electronics.

A list of accepted items and associated fees can be found at WasteTrac.org ( www.WasteTrac.org ), on the “Waste Trac Education Team” Facebook Page (web), or call 319-266-TRAC for details.

60 volunteers will be at the event and will unload materials from the 800-1,000 cars that are expected during the 5 hour event. Currently, another dozen volunteers (age 18 and older) are still needed for unloading TVs and computers. To volunteer, contact Tammy Turner at 319-266-TRAC on or before Monday, September 18th.
