Dense fog apparently was a factor in a chain-reaction, three-vehicle accident that injured two people in Grundy County Wednesday morning (March 28, 2018).

The crash happened just before 7:30 AM at the intersection of Iowa Highway 14 (G Ave.) and County Road D-67 (330th St.), about two miles west of Conrad. All three vehicles were traveling south on Iowa 14 at the time of the mishap.

According to sheriff's officials, a car stopped for another vehicle to make a turn. That's when a pickup -- driven by Corey Oltrogge, 48, of Eldora -- rear-ended the car and pushed it into the rear of the turning vehicle, which was also stopped on the highway.

Oltrogge told deputies he didn't see the two cars stopped in front of him, due to dense fog.

Sheriff's officials said Oltrogge suffered upper torso injuries and was transported to a Marshalltown hospital for treatment. The driver of the second car -- Jaymee Mann, 24, of Eldora -- also went to the hospital for treatment, but was taken in a personal vehicle. The third driver -- Chad Wagner, 40, of Grundy Center -- escaped injury.

The accident remains under investigation by Grundy County sheriff's officials.
